Getting audited by the IRS can be intimidating, but with the help of an IRS resolution professional, the process can be much easier and more successful.
The worst thing that can be done is ignoring IRS notices for long periods of time, including years. Sticking one’s head in the sand won’t make the problem go away.
From years of experience, I’ve heard many people say they call the IRS repeatedly with no avail, which can be very frustrating. As CPA’s we obtain a CAF number (Centralized Authorization File), which gives us authorization to represent clients in IRS tax matters. We then call into the IRS practitioner’s hotline, which is only available to those professionals with a CAF number. Professionals that can obtain a CAF number include CPA’s, Attorneys, and EA’s. For most IRS resolution cases, a CPA can handle the matter successfully and to the best benefit of the taxpayer.
The process starts with preparing an IRS power of attorney. This document gives the CPA the ability to contact the IRS on the clients behalf without the taxpayer being present. This is really the best way to handle the situation, as the IRS knows they cannot take advantage of a professional. Often, people who call the IRS to handle the situation on their own can get themselves in more trouble by releasing details that cause further issues.
If you need help with an IRS matter, please reach out today for a free 30-minute consultation. We always work for you, not the IRS.
There have been many cases in which we saved the client a significant amount of money. If we can’t help your situation, we will be honest and not have you spend money unnecessarily, like some of the radio resolution companies. We have our name behind our firm, unlike the generic IRS resolution companies, where you are just another number. This is never the case with Simpson & Simpson Accounting!
When you succeed, we succeed as well!
Sincerely,
Josh Simpson, CPA
